Working as part of the Technical and Operations team in SparkMatrix Technologies Inc., this position is responsible for administrating the network services (Internet access and WiFi networks) and associated devices for our business clients as well as the web-based software development for business operations. This opportunity is a Permanent, Contract, Part Time position to be based at Waterloo, Ontario. 

Responsibilities and Required Skills

  • Troubleshoot network incident and problems and performance issues;
  • Perform maintenance on network devices for services operation. E.g. hw/sw patching;
  • Plan, configure and install new or replace network devices such as router, switches and firewalls as well as cable patching/maintenance;
  • Deploy/Integrate software and hardware at client sites or business systems;
  • Conduct backup/restore procedures for system data;
  • Maintain network documentation and inventory etc.;
  • Report daily business expense and data process by using SimplyAccounting software, data entry;
  • Perform database administration, testing and maintenance on system platforms; update database client’s information;
  • Phone and onsite support administration for our clients both for ASP and internet service, provide solutions to exciting clients for their internet support issue;
  • Manage network management device operating through Sparkmatrix technology control system; provide on call technical support, customer service and implemented modifications to existing clients;
  • Communicate with software development and support team and extend support with unit testing, troubleshooting and searching for customers’ problems;
  • MUST be a Canadian citizen or have a valid work permit;
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.

Technical Skills

  • 802.11 Wireless networking in products like Linksys, Dlink, etc.
  • Basic 802.11 Switches/LAN networking in products like HP, Dlink, etc.
  • TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WEP, etc.
  • Firewalls
  • Malware (Virus/Spyware/Adware) management.

Education

College diploma or Bachelors degree in related discipline or solid experiences.

Working location

The candidate needs to work in the office of SparkMatrix Technologies Inc. in the Accelerator Center,

Waterloo Ontario

and occasionally at the client’s site for operations setup or meetings.
